New titles to choose from this week include three new murder mysteries. “Citizen K-9” is a K Team novel by David Rosenfelt. Fern Michaels has written “Fear Thy Neighbor.” “A Relative Murder” is a Medlar mystery by Jude Deveraux.

Bestselling author Marie Benedict’s latest historical fiction work “Her Hidden Genius” shines a light on Rosalind Franklin who sacrificed her life to discover the secrets of DNA.

“Sea of Tranquility” is by Emily St. John Mandel. This novel of time travel takes readers from Vancouver Island in 1912 to a dark colony on the moon nearly five hundred years later.

A new nonfiction selection is “Race and the Wild West” by Laura J. Arata. This work tells the story of Sara Bickford who was born a slave in Tennessee. She made her way to Montana Territory where she settled in the mining boomtown of Virginia City. This biography gives new insights into race and belonging in the American West at the turn of the twentieth century.

Susan Mallery is the author of “The Summer Getaway.” Newley divorced and needing to get away from the demands of family and friends, Robyn Caldwell hops on a plane to visit her great-aunt Lillian in Santa Barbara. But soon all those she left behind follow her to sunny California. Spending time with Lillian has given Robyn the freedom to take chances – on love, on family, and on dreams.

The Book Challenge for May is to read a book made into a TV series. We have several on display for you to choose from.

In an effort to promote economic development in our area the library hosts monthly gatherings for small business owners and entrepreneurs. “Bring It to the Table” is a time for sharing information, seeking answers to questions and learning from each other. We have speakers on various topics to assist business owners. The next “Bring It to the Table” session will be Monday, May 23, 11:30 A.M. in the library meeting room.

At our last session Kerry Shabi, Business Development Coordinator with Montana Native Growth Fund, was our guest speaker. Kerry will be at the library every other Monday beginning May 9 at 11:30 to help anyone who needs assistance or advice concerning business development or home ownership. The Montana Native Growth Fund serves Natives and non-Natives from Hays to Havre. Please call the library if you would like to set up a meeting with Kerry or for more information.

The Harlem Public Library and the Montana Library Network are sponsoring the free virtual program “A Cooking Demo with Mariah Gladstone, Indigikitchen” Friday, May 20 on Zoom from 6:30 – 8:00 P.M. Register at tinyurl.com/indigikitchen and you will receive an email with the link to join the program on your device. The library is also hosting a watch party in the library meeting room if you would like to join us.

Summer Reading is just around the corner! This year’s theme is “Oceans of Possibilities” and there will be activities and programs for all ages from preschoolers to adults. Watch for more information on our Facebook page and website.
