Chinook, Mosquito Valley Golf Courses get Set for Summer

May 4, 2022

The Chinook Golf Course is open for business with eight rental carts available for those who would rather ride than walk. Greens fees are paid on a Honor system, but there is usually someone at the course to assist with payment

The Chinook golf Course and the Mosquito Valley Golf Course in Harlem have been getting things ready for a busy summer season on the links.

The Chinook Golf and Country Club has become a hidden gem on the Hi-line, a quiet little nine hole course that offers a well groomed course, with nice greens for golfers to enjoy. The course is member owned and like most small town courses faces its fair share of obstacles. Maintaining equipment, fairway mower, greens mowers, rough mowers, broken sprinklers, the list goes on and on. Throw in a drought and a severe shortage of water and it makes things almost impossible.

For the past three years the Chinook Golf Course has had one huge contribution that has brought the course to new heights, despite all the obstacles placed on the course. Course Managers Mike Seymour and Mike Jones have done an incredible job maintaining the course and improving it in the process. Early on in the season the course needs to wake up, grass needs to start growing the greens need to come alive but in the end golfers have come to know that the Chinook Course will be among the best on the Hi-line.

Last summer new Tee Boxes were put in place on Holes 3 and 4 and will be in full use this year. Seymour and Jones continue to improve the conditions of the rough, plant trees and have installed slight modifications to the way certain holes are played.

Mens and Womans leagues begin in Chinook this month. The Men will play on Wednesdays and the Women will play Thursdays. A Co-ed league will be played in Harlem on Tuesdays. Contact Mike Seymour in Chinook to see about getting on the sub list or filling a vacancy on a team. In Harlem contact Marty Dirden, inquiries can be made at the Fort Belknap Casino.

Coming up later this month with be the Maurice Harshman Memorial Tournament on Sunday, May 29. A Memorial gathering for Don Sullivan will be held at the course on Saturday, June 11 and the Ginger Hansen Golf Banquet will be held at the Commercial Building at the Blaine County Fairgrounds on Saturday, June 25. June will conclude with the 27 Hole Triple Play Tournament, Sunday, June 26.
