Chinook senior standout Drake Berreth and Harlem senior standout Mikkel Rider were recently announced to be part of a Montana State University Northern Football signing class that included 20 athletes in all as well as 14 Montana kids.

Berreth earned Norther C All-Conference recognition for his play on the defensive side of the ball the past two seasons. Berreth was a stellar cornerback/linebacker for the Sugarbeeters that advanced to the Northern C playoffs last fall.

Berreth was also a fantastic wide receiver, making several acrobatic catches while leading the team in touchdown receptions. One to do whatever the coach asked of him, Berreth stepped in and played quarterback for a game leading the 'Beeters to a victory while rushing for a score and throwing for another.

Rider has been a focal point of the Wildcat offense the past two seasons. The 6'3 Quarterback wan efficient passer as well as a bruising runner that certainly wasn't afraid of contact. Rider often led the team in rushing and was very accurate with the deep ball when given time to throw.

A press release from MSU-Northern Football states: "We are exited to announce this recruiting class and to have this group on board" said coach Sourers. "They are going to be a big part of the future of MSU-Northern football, and we are looking forward to working with this group of student-athletes."

Berreth and Rider will add to the strong Blaine County connection to the Lights athletic program joining recent 'Sugarbeeter commit Oskar Pula, 2021 Harlem graduate Andrew Rasmussen, 2021 Chinook graduate Reese Elliot and 2020 Harlem graduate Lane Allen.
