This weeks Swimmers of the Week for the Chinook Lions and Harlem Swim Teams includes four more hard working young swimmers that continue to work hard to get better each week.

For the Chinook Lions, Head Coach Benton Elliot has selected Mariah Huravitch and Amanda Finley, Harlem Swim Team Head coach Andrew Rasmussen has selected Ozzy and Izzy Baker as this weeks recipients.

Elliot had plenty to say when talking about this weeks selections, "Mariah Huravitch is a 9-10 girl swimming as a nine year old. She made the transition from swimming all of her events in 25 (Meter distances) to 50 (Meter Distances), which can be a very hard transition, but she has done a great job with the transition."

Elliot commented on some adjustments Mariah has been making this season, "We've changed the way she swims freestyle and fly completely and she's listened so well and has improved because of it. Mariah often asks if I can watch her do something because she wants to know if it is being done correctly, and when I give her pointers she fixes them to the best of her ability."

Mariah wants to get better every day and Coach Elliot can see that, "She also works very hard, and is very encouraging, which makes her a great teammate. When we are doing sprints you hear her saying 'come on guys we got this'. I'm so thankful to have Mariah on the team."

Coach Elliot was quick to nominate his next swimmer, "Amanda Finley is an 11-12 year old girl swimming as an eleven year old. Amanda has made night and day improvements from last year. She is one of the older kids in the second practice, and she is a great leader to the other kids at this practice."

Elliot points out her dedication as a strong suit, "Amanda is always at practice on time, and in the water first doing her warm up. She is often done first with everything we do and when she is done it is quickly followed by 'what's next". Amanda is the other person on the team that asks if she is doing something right and then fixes it right away when I give her advice. Amanda is amazing to coach and has cut so much time this year already and I'm excited to see how much more time she cuts."

Coach Rasmussen is excited to nominate this weeks swimmers, "Ozzy and Izzy both work so hard at practice. Izzy out efforts many of our big kids and helps me at morning practice with the littles. Ozzy is in his first year of competition and he swims with the 9-10 year Olds. I'm very happy to see all the progress he's made through the weeks and from last year not being able to swim to now."
