The Chinook Sugarbeeters made the long trip south to take on the Park City Panthers in a non conference contest between Northern C and Southern C Stalwarts. The Sugarbeeters were coming off a season opening win over a very strong Culbertson team and were looking to build on that momentum with a road win Friday afternoon. They accomplished their goal in stellar fashion, dominating the hometown Panthers start to finish en-route to a lopsided 46-6 win.

Chinook started strong stifling the Panthers on their opening drive, forcing a three and out. Senior Tyler Schoen returned the Panther punt to the two yard line and punched it into the end zone for an early touchdown at the 9:53 mark of the first quarter. Senior Lane Hassler added the conversion kick and Chinook quickly opened up a 7-0 lead.

The 'Beeter defense stood tall on the ensuing Panther possession forcing a turnover on downs. The offense however wasn't able to get much going and returned the ball to the Panthers after failing to gain a first down of their own.

Park City then put together a sustained drive that reached the 'Beeter 19 yard line before stalling out and turning the ball back over to the 'Beeter offense. This time Chinook knew what to do with the ball. Schoen picked up 13 yards on first down setting up the pass for the 'Beeter offense.

Senior Quarterback Levi Jensen dropped straight back and then lofted a beautiful pass over the top of the Panther defense dropping nicely into the hands of senior Flint Annis who was two steps beyond the defense and coasted his way into the end zone for a 46 yard touchdown catch. The point after was no good, leaving the 'Beeters with a 13-0 lead just a handful of ticks into the second quarter.

The Panther offense did their best to get something going but the 'Beeters had other plans. Schoen stopped the runner in his tracks on first down and senior Braxton Inman burst into the Panther backfield on second down for a sack, setting the Panthers back five yards. Park City punted the ball back to the 'Beeters who now had momentum firmly in their pocket.

Chinook took over on the Park City 34 yard line and wasted little time getting their offense rolling. Jensen zigged and zagged his way for a 29 yard gain down to the Panther five. Three plays later Jensen again found the end zone, this time from three yards out via the run. The conversion attempt was no good and Chinook led 19-0 with 7:43 left in the opening half.

Chinook continued to pressure the Panther Quarterback on their next possession. Senior Daniel MacLeod blasted his way through the line for a sack and Inman shut the Panthers down on third down leading to another punt. Sophomore Landen Beck returned the Panther punt 26 yards to the Park City 28 yard line setting the 'Beeter offense up once again with outstanding field position.

Facing a fourth and four with 3:07 left on the first half clock, the 'Beeters decided to go for it and the call proved to be the right one. Schoen ran through defenders for a ten yard gain and a 'Beeter first down. Jensen added another score moments later, running it from eight yards out to extend the 'Beeter lead. Following a Hasler conversion kick, Chinook's lead had ballooned to 26-0 with 1:25 left in the opening half.

Coming out of the halftime locker room the 'Beeter offense was unable to mount any kind of attack on their opening drive. Park City however finally found a little magic of their own and converted on fourth and goal from three yards out for their first points of the contest. The Panther score cut Chinook's lead to 26-6 at the 5:53 mark of the third quarter.

The 'Beeters second possession of the half was much better. Jensen began the drive with a nine yard run and Schoen followed with runs of five and eleven yards to move the 'Beeters into Panther territory. Jensen shook a couple of defenders two plays later, breaking into the secondary for a forty yard gain all the way down to the Park City four yard line. On third down the 'Beeters again called Jensen's number and the senior quarterback responded with his third touchdown run of the contest, this one coming from four yards out. The point after was no good and with 2:01 showing on the third quarter clock the 'Beeter held a 32-6 lead.

Park City had something developing on their next possession but once again the 'Beeter defense stood their ground. MacLeod made another tackle behind the line of scrimmage forcing a fumble that Schoen recovered thwarting yet another Park City drive.

Annis picked up seven yards on a nifty shovel pass to the Park City 15; Schoen followed with a six yard run and the found the end zone for the second time on a 10 yard scamper for a 'Beeter touchdown. Jensen added the conversion run to put Chinook on top 40-6.

With the game well in hand the 'Beeter kept a nice mix of younger kids with experience at the varsity level on the field while mixing in a number of freshman and sophomores to finish the contest. The 'Beeters weren't done scoring however as sophomore Hendrix Doney scooped up a Park City fumble and weaved his way to the end zone for a 42 yard touchdown fumble return, providing the final points of a 46-6 'Beeter win.

Offensively the 'Beeters were led by Jensen with 10 rushes for 63 yards, three touchdowns and a two-point conversion. Schoen added 74 yards and a pair of touchdowns on 16 carries. Annis had two catches for 51 yards and a score.

Defensively Schoen led the way with 17 total tackles and a fumble recovery. MacLeod had six total tackles and two forced fumbles while Inman recorded eight total tackles with a forced fumble.

Head Coach Mike Jones was pleased with his teams performance, "We had a great team effort in this game. Have some things we definitely need to work on like our passing game. We have a big contest this week with Shelby at home for homecoming. They are a good physical team that likes to run the ball. Our defense needs to show up and we need to be more balanced on the offense side of the ball."

Chinook senior Quarterback Levi Jensen reaches for the end zone during second quarter action Saturday afternoon. Jensen scored three touchdowns on the day helping lead the Sugarbeeters to a comfortable 46-6 win over Park City

The 'Beeters will host the Coyotes for their Homecoming game Friday with kickoff set for 7:00 p.m.
