The children’s programs are ready to go again this fall. Parents/caregivers are invited to bring their children to the library to participate in all the fun and educational activities we have available. Little ones, ages 0-5, are invited to Storytime on Tuesdays at 10 A.M. They must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver. After School Squad for elementary students explores STEAM activities on Wednesdays at 3:30 P.M. Lego Club for all ages is held on Thursdays at 3:30 P.M. Preschool children must be accompanied by an adult.

The Book Challenge for October is to read a paperback book. Please let the library know if you have completed the September Book Challenge.

This is the last week to take advantage of the September “Buy a Bag O’Books” used book sale. You may purchase a grocery sack full of books for only one dollar.

We welcome to our library staff Nicole Cooper who is the new clerk/substitute. Come by and say hello!

Looking ahead - the Friends of the Library are hosting their annual membership meeting October 26 at 6 P.M. with a soup supper and business meeting. This is your opportunity to join the Friends or renew your membership. Dues are $10. Come and see how you can support your local library.

New titles this week include Brad Thor’s new political thriller “Rising Tiger.” America’s top spy, Scot Harvath, faces down a potentially nation-ending threat. With multiple competing forces and a host a deadly agendas, it becomes nearly impossible to tell the difference between predator and prey.

“The Retreat” is by Sarah Pearse. Reaper’s Rock, off the English coast, promises rest and relaxation. The island was once a playground of a serial killer and is rumored to be cursed. Detective Elin Warner investigates deaths that at first appear to be accidental, but she suspects there is nothing accidental about them. Is history repeating itself?

P.C. Cast is the author of “Into the Mist.” An attack on the US delivers fire and biological destruction including a green mist that is deadly to all men, but gives women superhuman powers. A group of high school teachers heading home from a conference experience the strength of these powers as they cross the Pacific Northwest trying to find a safe place to ride out the apocalypse.

“Season of My Enemy” by Naomi Musch tells the story of Fannie O’Brien. With WWII pounding Europe, her father’s sudden death, and her brothers overseas, Fannie finds herself in charge of their 200-acre Wisconsin farm. When German prisoners arrive as laborers, trouble comes too.

Other new titles include “Portrait of an Unknown Woman” by Daniel Silva and “The Recovery Agent” by Janet Evanovich.
