Friends of the Pool & Park Foundation Set to Host Prime Rib Dinner, Saturday, October 22

October 12, 2022

The Friends of the Pool and Park Foundation have another fundraiser on the horizon in their continuing effort to bring much needed restorations to a couple of community hangouts. The Foundations mission statements states, "We are an organization of dedicated individuals working towards the betterment of two very special entities in Chinook, the Ensign Sweet Memorial Park and the Chinook City Pool. Both of these facilities hold a special place in many people's hearts, whether you lived in Chinook as a child or whether you currently reside here." After just completing a very successful Brewfest, organizers have a very special Prime Rib Dinner set to take place on Saturday, October 22.

The Friends of the Pool and Park Foundation have been working tirelessly to secure funds to improve Ensign Sweet Memorial Park and the Chinook City Pool so that the community and surrounding areas can continue to enjoy these valuable assets for the foreseeable future. As it currently stands the park and the pool are deteriorating rapidly and without any kind of upkeep being done other than day to day operation, the probability that the pool and park will be unable to sustain a proper and safe operation is very unlikely.

This urgent need is what led to the formation of the Friends of the Pool and Park Foundation, and over the past few years the group has become a well-established entity that has raised a significant amount of funds thus far for its improvements. However, the funds needed to complete the project at the very minimum are far beyond anything the foundation could expect to raise in a normal fundraising situation. The Foundation has made it very clear that they are seeking additional input and help in raising the monies necessary to complete the basic minimum of projects required to upgrade the pool operations and improve the park to a safe and usable level.

The Prime Rib Fundraiser Dinner will be held at the Eagles Club starting at 6:00 p.m. Organizers invite the community to 'Come and enjoy delicious Prime Rib, Green Beans, Garlic Mashed Potatoes, a Roll and Carrot Cake'. For those who would like to enjoy a wonderful meal and support the foundation's efforts, but are unable to physically attend, there is an option of delivery available locally. To have a meal delivered, call or text your order to (406) 390-6233 and they will bring it to you. Deliveries are limited to two miles outside of Chinook. In addition, a Silent Auction will be held as well. Organizers add that they will be bringing in a plethora of fun items to bid on including a very nice jewelry set from Sugar Plum Jewelry.

All fundraising that the organization has done has been greatly supported by the community and that fact hasn't been lost on its organizers, "We truly appreciate the community rallying together to help make the repairs to the pool and park happen. Please feel free to reach out to us with any questions you may have, we'd love to talk with the community about the project, the bond and every aspect of what it entails."
