Chinook Senior Tyler Schoen - 1st Team Inside Linebacker, 1st Team Runningback, All-State, Bob Cleverly All-Star Selection

The Sugarbeeters had one heck of a 2022 football season. The team beat the Culbertson Cowboys in a thrilling home opener. The Cowboys finished third in the Class C. The 'Beeters took a seven game win streak into the final week of the season before falling to eventual State Champion Belt and the Ennis Mustangs in the first round of the Montana Class C Eight-man football Playoffs.

Despite the season ending in the state playoffs what the team accomplished was quite remarkable. The fact that they have two Northern C All-State Selections, senior Tyler Schoen and senior Flint Annis and five additional all-Conference selections, senior Daniel MacLeod, senior Braxton Inman, senior Lane Hassler, senior Levi Jensen and junior Quentin Edwards, establishes their season as a success.

Tyler Schoen's post season awards include Northern C All-State, 1st Team All-Conference Linebacker, 1st Team Running back and Bob Cleverly All-Star. Schoen was dominate on both sides of the ball for the 'Beeters all season long. Defenders often found themselves on their backs after receiving a monstrous Stiffarm while Schoen continued on to the end zone. On defense Schoen would often run down runners in the backfield or chase down quarterback while coming all the way across the field to make a tackle. Teams just simply couldn't run away from him.

Senior Flint Annis was a core part of a 'Beeter defensive line that completely shut down the opponents rushing attack while also blowing up their passing game due to lack of time to set their feet. Annis was named Northern C All-State, 1st Team All-Conference Defensive End and 2nd Team All-Conference Fullback. Annis also Earned a Bob Cleverly All-Star selection. Annis recorded numerous tackles in the backfield, sacks, forced fumbles and fumble recoveries for the 'Beeter defense. On offense he was adept at catching the ball down the seam, but he was known for blowing up huge holes for Schoen to run through.

Senior Daniel MacLeod earned a 1st Team All-Conference selection at Guard. MacLeod used his strength to leverage and control opponents seemingly at will. His ability to open up running lanes or to give the quarterback time to throw were major reasons the 'Beeter ground game was so proficient. MacLeod gave his all on every play and never backed down from anyone.

Senior Lane Hasler earned 2nd Team All-Conference honors for his performance from his Inside Linebacker position. Hasler was a team leader in tackles for loss, quarterback sacks and forced fumbles in leading a very solid 'Beeter defense.

Senior Braxton Inman earned 2nd Team All-Conference honors as Defensive Lineman. Inman was able on the defensive line and at times it looked like he knew the snap count better than the opponent's offensive line. In a game early in the season, Inman timed the snap so perfectly that he tackled the quarterback before he even had time to turn around to hand the ball to the running back.

Senior Levi Jensen earned 2nd Team All-Conference honors for his play at the Quarterback position. Jensen didn't have to go to the air much with the 'Beeters offensive line opening up running lanes the way they did. His ability to read defenders made him a threat in the running game. In a game against Fort Benton Jensen read the end perfectly and executed a fake handoff that had everyone in the stadium looking for who had the ball, including the Chinook Coaching staff. Jensen was in the end zone after a 70 yard scamper without a defender in sight.

Junior Quentin Edwards earned 2nd Team All-Conference honors at Center for the 'Beeters. Quentin was sorely missed when he was forced to miss a game and the center exchange resulted in multiple missed snaps. Edwards delivered perfect snaps to Jensen while under Center but also from the Shot Gun. And on top of that Edwards was a solid runner and pass blocker for the offense.

Chinook Head Coach Mike Jones was thrilled to see seven of his players be recognized for their efforts on the field but was especially happy for his seniors. "This was a great year for our seniors. Our seniors were true leaders in all aspects of our program. It was great to be able to coach these young men and I know that we, as a coaching staff, are excited to see them grow and move on to whatever they choose to do after high school."

Jones added that some exciting news may be coming soon, "Some of them may even have the opportunity to move on to the next level. I am very thankful for the opportunity to have coached these guys and am super excited that their efforts are being recognized through these awards."
