The library board of trustees will hold their monthly meeting January 25, at the new time of 4:30 P.M. in the library meeting room.

The Book Challenge for January is to read a book with a dual timeline. When you complete the challenge notify the library and your name will be entered to win a gift card from a local business!

The Harlem Library and the Montana Library Network are presenting the virtual program “Montana Fibershed – Connecting Montana Folks with Montana Fiber” Thursday, January 26, 6:30 – 8:00 P.M. on Zoom. The presenters are Barb French, teacher of the fiber arts and board member of Montana Fibershed; and Helen Harris, also a board member and fiber artist. This program is free and open to all. A new historical fiction novel based on real-life events is “The Night Ship” by Jess Kidd. In 1629 orphan Mayken is bound for the Dutch East Indies.

In 1989 lonely boy Gil who has lost his mother is sent to live with his uncle off the coast of Western Australia. There on the tiny island he discovers the story of an infamous shipwreck….

“Beneath the Bending Skies” is a new large print novel by Jane Kirkpatrick set in 1860s Montana. Mollie Sheehan strives to be a dutiful daughter and honor her father’s wishes although she has endured one heartbreak after another. In her father’s long absences Mollie provides for her stepfamily wishing she had more options. When she and Peter Ronan fall in love her father disapproves to the point of moving the family to California. But when everything looks bleak, Mollie finds that someone far greater than her father is in control of her life.

Kathryn Lasky is the author of “Light on the Bone,” a new Georgia O’Keeffe mystery. The latest Clive Cussler Isaac Bell Adventure is “The Sea Wolves” by Jack DeBrul. Veronica Roth, author of the Divergent Series, has written “Poster Girl.” “Fall Guy” is the latest Joe Gunther novel by Archer Mayor.

February is “Love Your Library” month. To celebrate the library is hosting the event “Love Chocolate…Love Your Library!” on February 13 from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. This family friendly event includes chocolate temptations tasting, a Valentine photo booth, chocolate fondue and chocolate crafts, voting on decorated cakes and vendors selling chocolate confections. The library is looking for people who would be willing to bring chocolate cakes decorated in a Valentine or library theme, bakers to make chocolate items for the tasting and vendors to sell chocolate goodies.

We are limited to six vendors because of the size of the meeting room. More information will be coming.
