We've Got The County Covered

BLAINE COUNTY LAC CARNIVAL A HUGE SUCCESS

The Blaine County Local Advisory Council for Mental Health held a Family Carnival night this past Friday at the Blaine County Fairgrounds Commercial Building in Chinook. The event was extremely well attended and organizers were thrilled with how everything turned out.

The evening began with a fantastic spaghetti dinner that was masterfully prepared by a large group of volunteers. The Chinook High School National Honor Society as well as students from the JUMP Youth Group and other students were on hand to assist with various activities.

Blaine County Health Nurse, Valerie Beck stated, "We had a great turnout from the community. We were happy to see families come and have a family night at the carnival. JUMP did face painting. The Blaine County Health Department, Extension, Juvenile Probation, DES, made the meal and served the meal."

Blaine County Health's Deb Anderson commented, "The carnival was well attended with more than 150 showing up and very well received by the community." Anderson added, "Everyone we talked to said they had a great time and loved having something fun to do on a Friday night with their families!"

Lining the perimeter of the Commercial Building were a number of Vendors as well as activities for the younger kids to participate in. "Those that attended on the vendor side had a great time as well, and were quite surprised at the great turnout. Overall, vendors and attendees alike are looking forward to the next one," added Anderson.

In addition to a great meal and conversation with friends there was plenty for everyone to do, "Lots of great educational opportunities for all ages, great food, fun games and prizes. We did notice the kids were especially drawn to the face painting and the painting of 'Kindness Rocks'," stated Anderson. "Watch for those rocks to be placed around the communities in early May!"

Blaine County LAC looks forward to holding more events in the future, "We are hoping to have a family barbecue in May for Mental health awareness month. I would say the whole Blaine county LAC did a fantastic job planning and pulling off a successful event for the community. We were appreciative of all the high school kids for coming out and helping, they were also a huge part of the night being successful. We would love for more people to join the Blaine County LAC and be part of the process.
