Gordon Mark Haugen

April 12, 2023

Gordon Mark Haugen passed away on Thursday, March 30, 2023, in Green Valley, Arizona. Gordon was born in Glasgow, Montana on March 11, 1937 to Mark and Ruth Matchett Haugen. His family moved to a farm outside of Chinook, Montana in 1941, where he attended school. In 1955, Gordon met and married a Havre Central girl, Sharon Walen ("Punky" to all who knew her). To this union came three sons and one daughter. Gordon worked a variety of jobs and lived in various highline communities until 1964 when he and his young family moved back to the Haugen farm outside of Chinook. In addition to working with his father on the farm, he held jobs with Blaine County and Bob's Flooring. With Sharon, and their children, he pursued his dream of starting a business and moved to Malta, opening Gordon's Home Furnishings in 1970. Upon his father's retirement, Gordon purchased the family farm in 1979 where he farmed and ranched until his retirement. Unfortunately, Gordon lost his Punky in 1993 but found a new love in 1994, when he married Linda Westin Luckett. Linda and Gordon traded their time between Yuma and Chinook. Linda passed away in 2021.

The communities of Chinook, Malta, the Hi-Line, and Yuma Arizona, had a special place in Gordon's heart. Wherever he lived, Gordon was active in service. He belonged to many organizations, where he shared his efforts, talents, and leadership.

Gordon was predeceased by his brother, Les Haugen; wives, Sharon and Linda; his son Mark Haugen, and his grandson, Chad Haugen. He is survived by three children, Mike (Denise)-Havre, Montana, Linda Tangen (Tom)-Fairfield Bay, Arkansas, Matt (Lori), Gresham, Oregon; and daughter-in-law Billie Haugen-Chinook, Montana. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in honor of Gordon to the Chinook American Lutheran Church.

A service is planned at the Lutheran Church in Chinook on Friday, April 21 at 10 am. A lunch at the Chinook Eagles Club will follow the cemetery interment.

Wilderness Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements and services.
