April 26, 2023

Remember to come to the library this week and help us celebrate National Library Week! The theme this year is There’s More to the Story. We have drawings for door prizes and surveys to fill out.

We have one non-fiction book available for checkout. Wake Up with a Purpose! by Sister Jean Delores Schmidt is part memoir and part spiritual guide. It captures the humor, wisdom, and common sense that has made her an icon of faith and joy.

We have several novels ready for checkout this week. When We were Bright and Beautiful by Jillian Medoff is an electrifying, twisty, and deeply emotional family drama, set on Manhattan’s glittering Upper East Side, that explores the dark side of love, the limits of loyalty, and the high cost of truth. The Lost Girls of Willowbrook by Ellen Marie Wiseman blends fact, fiction, and the urban legend of Cropsey for a haunting story about a young woman mistakenly imprisoned at Willowbrook State School – the real state-run institution that Geraldo Rivera would later expose for its horrifying abuses. Hang the Moon by Jeannette Walls is a riveting novel about an indomitable young woman in Virginia during Prohibition.

April is Pets Are Wonderful Month! Elle put together a book display of fiction and non-fiction books about pets. Since Librarians need pets too, we have photos of some of our pets, most of whom were strays or adopted from a shelter. April 30th is National Adopt a Shelter Pet Day. As part of our pet display, we are featuring photos of pets available from our local shelter PAWS. April is also Arab-American Heritage Month. We have a display of both non-fiction and fiction books available for checkout.
