Aaniiih Nakoda College HiSET program assists students in preparation of their HiSET testing. Students can meet with the Success Center Coordinator on a daily basis to go over the five testing areas: Language Arts-Writing, Language Arts-Reading, Science, Social Studies and Mathematics.

Jack Jones was working as a radio announcer and was referred to Aaniiih Nakoda College's Adult Education Program to get his HiSet Certificate formerly known as General Equivalency Diploma (GED). Jack was determined to take the test as he felt quite confident in his abilities. He signed up to take three tests at Aaniiih Nakoda College. District 4 HRDC provides HiSet testing once a month. Needless to say, Jack passed three tests with flying colors.

ANC utilizes a web-based software called AZTEC HiSet Solution. The software identifies both strengths and weaknesses by having a pretest. Students do not waste time studying areas they have already mastered. Instead, the focus is in areas that need improvement which is done by completing lessons and drill practice. Jack utilized the month to complete the math lessons and drills. He signed up to take the two remaining tests and again passed. June 2021, Jack successfully obtained his HiSet Certificate.

Fast forward to January 2022, Jack enrolled at Aaniiih Nakoda College and the Student Support Services Trio Program, majoring in Industrial Trades. The first semester Jack was on the Dean's List. He continues to excel and has been on the President's List the past two semesters and recently inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society and chosen for the Industrial Trades' Faculty Award.

March 2023, Jack Jones was hired as the Program Director for KGVA. He works closely with Mr. Ron Bruschi, Radio Station Manager at KGVA 88.1 FM. When asked what advice he would share to individuals considering taking the HiSet he shared, "I would tell them to take practice tests and not to over think the test. As long as they do reasonably well on the practice tests, they should have no problem with the actual test. That HiSet program ANC provided, helped me a lot. It's a great place to start if you want to further your education."

There are computers available at the Success Center in Nakoda Hall for students to prepare for the HiSet test. This online software can be accessible anywhere there is internet access. People with transportation issues can study from home. Our goal is to better serve the Fort Belknap Indian reservation and surrounding communities with all of their educational needs.
