Blaine County Library

July 26, 2023

The Blaine County Library Board of Trustees will hold their regular monthly meeting Monday July 31st at 4:30 p.m.

This week will be the last of our Summer programs. Teen Scene for grades 9-12 will be tonight from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at 1:30 p.m. will be the final LEGO Club for the summer. The July challenge of building a boat that will float using 100LEGOs or less will be judged. Entries will be judged on creativity, looks and whether it floats on water.

Kids will have until 4:00 p.m. August 4th to turn in their time logs. Prizes will be drawn before closing that day. The student with the most hours read will win an after-hours pizza party at the library for him/herself and up to 5 friends.

Don’t forget about the prize drawing for High School students and adults! Every chapter book read by students and adults allows them to enter their name into the drawing for a book bag, thermal mug, and gift certificates to Rad’s and the Creamery.

We have a variety of new books available this week. “Dovetail” by Karen McQuestion is a novel of enduring love, family secrets, and mysterious death. “Flags on the Bayou” by James Lee Burke is a novel set in Civil War-era Louisiana as the South transforms. A brilliant cast of characters – enslaved and free women, plantation gentry, and battle-weary Confederate and Union soldiers – are caught in the maelstrom. In “After Death” by Dean Koontz, a modern-day Lazarus is humanity’s last hope in a breathtaking suspense novel about the absolute powers of good and evil. “The First Ladies” by Marie Benedict is a novel about the extraordinary partnership between First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt and civil rights activist Mary McLeod Bethune—an unlikely friendship that changed the world. “The Collector” by Daniel Silva is an action-packed tale of high stakes international intrigue.
