Chinook Lions Qualified 30 for the State Meet in Conrad

The Chinook Lions hosted the Eastern Division swim Meet July 21-22. This situation was great for the kids as they got the opportunity swim in front of their hometown fans as well as in their own pool. The Lions qualified thirty swimmers for the State Swim Meet in Conrad this past weekend, results will be in next week's Blaine County Journal ~ News Opinion. At the Eastern Divisional the Lions claimed three High Point Trophies to go along with 9 Individual Champions in their respective event.

The first Lion to be presented with a High Point Trophy was Walter Schoen in the 13-14 boys division. Schoen swept all three of his individual events beginning with the 50 Meter Freestyle winning the event with a time of :27.39. Schoen then won 100 Meter Freestyle with a time of 1:01.68. Walter concluded his swim with a win in the 100 Meter Backstroke with a time of 1:19.83. Next up is Dentin DePriest who won the 15-19 Senior boys division High Point, DePriest first won the 200 Meter Individual Medley with a time of 2:34.69. Dentin then turned his focus to the 100 Meter Breaststroke where he completed the four lengths of the pool in 1:16.65. Lastly DePriest won the grueling 400 Meter Freestyle in 4:51.87.

The Chinook Lions final High Point winner was Britton Elliot in the 15-19 Senior girls division, Britton started off her High Point run with a win in the 50 Meter Freestyle completing the sprint in :28.26. Britton then swam her way to a first-place finish in the 100 Meter Freestyle with a time of 1:05.39. Britton concluded her divisional swim with a first place finish the challenging 50 Meter Butterfly, touching the wall in :32.67,

Sylvi Harwood had an impressive finish for the 8 & U girls division. Harwood won the 25 Meter Freestyle in :19.00 to start the day. A short time later Harwood was back in the pool for the 50 meter freestyle where she again took first place, touching the wall in :41.73. In Harwood's final swim she finished second in the 25 Meter Butterfly with a time of :22.62. Katie Tilleman turned in a solid effort for the Lions as well. Katie won the 100 Meter Freestyle for the 13-14 girls division in a time of 1:11.87. Tilleman also won the 50 Meter Butterfly touching the wall in :31.74. Tilleman began her divisional swim with a second-place finish in the 50 Meter Freestyle touch the wall in :28.84.

Bryce Elliot had a terrific swim in the 13-14 boys division winning the 200 Meter Individual Medley in 2:59.05. Bryce later added a win in the 200 Meter Freestyle finishing the race in 2:22.80. Bryce concluded his swim with a second-place finish in the 50 Meter Butterfly touching the wall in 33.88. Brockton Elliot shined for the Lions in the 15-19 Senior Boys division. Brockton was strong in both Butterfly races, winning the 50 Meter Butterfly in :28.70 and the 100 Meter Butterfly 1:10.16. Brockton finished second in the 200 Meter Individual Medley with a time of 2:43.30

Daniel Tilleman also captured gold in the 15-19 senior boys division, winning the 100 Meter Freestyle in :58.89. Daniel finished second in the 50 Meter Freestyle completing the race in :26.37. Tilleman also finished third in the 100 Meter Backstroke (1:21.23). Rachel Stephens performed very well in the 13-14 girls' division finishing second in all three of her individual events. Stephens first swam the 100 Meter Freestyle (1:08.93), followed by the 50 Meter Butterfly (:32.87), and the 200 Meter Freestyle (1:08.93).

Kolton DePriest won the 13-14 boys 100 Meter Breaststroke with a time of 1:21.97. Kolton also had a pair of third place finishes first in the 100 Meter Freestyle (1:04.32) and then in the 200 Meter Freestyle (2:27.35). Tyler Stephens swam very well in the 9-10 Boys Division finishing second in the 50 Meter Freestyle with a time of :34.35 and second in the 100 Meter Freestyle in 1:18,26. Stephens also finished fourth in the 50 Meter Backstroke (:52.16).

Colter Matkins swam well in the 15-19 boys' division finishing second in the 100 Meter Backstroke (1:20.47) and the 50 Meter Butterfly (31.47) Colter added a fourth-place finish in the 50 Meter Freestyle (27.43).
