Saturday, October 14, 2023, Plant a Seed…READ will sponsor the first 2023 Denim & Diamonds Gala from 5:30-8:30 pm at the Havre Eagles Club. This event is to start the building of displays for a Play to Learn Center, where children and parents interact while playing. Tickets may be purchased online by clicking on the QR code or visiting http://www.plantaseedreadmt.org. You may purchase tickets in person, by visiting the office at the Havre Holiday Village or calling 406-400-2529.
Tickets for the event are $50 per person which will offer pulled pork sandwich, potato salad, pasta salad, baked beans and a selection of bars for dessert. Your dinner ticket also makes you eligible for a $2000 Grand Prize or 1 of 2 Second Chance Prizes worth $1000 each. There will be silent and live auctions as well as several fun games while meeting up with friends.
After parents have expressed a concern for a play to learn center, especially during the winter months and a survey done by Plant a Seed…READ, the board of directors and the Play to Learn committee, looked into this type of activity for young children. We found play is the basis of almost all learning in early childhood and would be a wonderful place for parents and families to participate in this interactive model. When children work in this play to learn model, the brain, which develops to 85-90% of its potential in the first 5 years, has the opportunity to build a solid foundation prior to entering school. The Play to Learn Preschool Museum would be available not only for Hill County, but the surrounding counties as well.
