Tonight is the Friends of the Harlem Library annual membership meeting. A soup supper will be served at 6 P.M. with the business meeting following. Those interested in becoming a member and current members are encouraged to attend. Annual dues of $10 may be paid at this meeting.

The library is hosting the Montana Library Network virtual program “Hauntings of Montana” with speaker Ellen Baumler October 12, 6:30 – 8:00 P.M. via Zoom. Historian, storyteller, and award-winning author Baumler weaves a ghostly web in a thought-provoking journey to Montana’s most spirited places. This presentation is free and open to all. Registration is required at tinyurl.com/hauntingsMT. Come to the watch party at the library or join on your own device.

Former Harlem resident, Steve Hughes, will present the program “Journey to Mongolia” at the library Friday, October 13, 7 P.M. in the meeting room. Hughes will share about his recent visit with the nomads of western Mongolia including a slide show. There will also be time for questions and answers.

The Book Challenge for October is to read a cozy mystery. We have a great selection on display for you to choose from.

Please stop by the library and share your wise thoughts! Write your words of wisdom on the leaves we have available and add them to the wisdom tree.

Did you know we have notary services available at the library? Carly is happy to supply the notary services you need at no cost.

Parents and families of children ages 0-5 are encouraged to register them for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. They will receive a free book monthly in the mail. Enroll your child at http://www.harlempubliclibrary.org where you will find a link to register or you may obtain a paper form at the library.

On these cool fall days it is great to curl up with a good book. Check out what new titles are available.

If you are looking for stories with a twist that will grip you from the first page why not try “Prom Mom” by Laura Lippman, “Strange Sally Diamond” by Liz Nugent, or “Everyone Here Is Lying” by Shari Lapena.

If you would like to escape to a sunny beach pick up “Welcome to Beach Town” by Susan Wiggs.

Two historical fiction novels are “Counting Lost Stars” by Kim Van Alkemade and “Escape to Florence’ by Kat Devereaux.

Two other suspense novels include “Dead Mountain” by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child and “Clive Cussler Condor’s Fury” by Graham Brown.
