With just two weeks left in the Cross Country regular season, teams are really looking to make the most of it. The Chinook Sugarbeeters and Harlem Wildcats were in Malta this past Saturday at the Marian Hills Golf and Country Club. Both teams were well represented and performed very well top to bottom.

The 'Beeters had ten runners in the field while the Wildcats had nine. At the front of the pack were a trio of Wildcats. Freshman Branlin Foote ran on outstanding race, completing the course in 17:28.4 to finish second. Freshman Isaac Cuts the Rope finished sixth with a time of 19:10.0. Not far behind was Harlem freshman Gregory Gardipee who recorded a time of 19:33.0, good for eighth. Chinook junior Carson Nissen followed 20:48.7. Wildcat sophomore DeLane Lamere was just behind with a time of 20:49.7.

The rest of the Wildcat contingent included freshman Lathan Blackwolf, seniors Kelbi Bigby and Moses Lawrence, freshman Orion Cuts the Rope and freshman Cater Lawrence. For the Sugarbeeters it was sophomores RJ Engstrom and Ezekiel Sanders, senior Corey Bilger, freshman Gus Buck, Evan Hofeldt and Kenneth Gruszie and juniors Dentin DePriest, Kalled Jaha and Lance Pitkanen.

In the girls race The Chinook Sugarbeeters led the way with a strong showing. 'Beeter sophomore Neva Lowe led the way with a fantastic run, completed the course in 20:29.5, good enough for a third place finish. Sophomore Emma Klingamen crossed the finish line in 23:.41.4 to earn an eleventh place finish. The rest of the lineup included juniors Jeni Mord and Ivey Lenz and sophomore Bailey Billmayer. Harlem was represented by senior Desiree Smith.

Chinook Head Coach, Kendal Harwood, had this to say afterword, "Malta was the best meet yet for the 'Beeters. Neva led the girls team and achieved her goal of getting below 21 minutes. We qualified all our girl runners with Bailey finishing strong coming in just under 30 minutes. Ivey Lenz also got under 30."

On the boys side, Harwood was very happy, "The boys had a great showing. This week Carson led the pack with a new personnel record. RJ Engstrom is picking up the pace as well. We have a little more work to do before state but I think the team is really getting into pretty good shape. We hope to see some great times in Harlem next week."Blaine County Cross Country Teams Run Well in Malta
