We have three non-fiction books available this week. “The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Dinner’s Ready” by Ree Drummond has 112 fast and fabulous recipes for slightly impatient home cooks. “Prequel: An American Fight Against Fascism” by Rachel Maddow traces the fight to preserve American democracy back to World War II, when a handful of committed public servants and brave private citizens thwarted far-right plotters trying to steer our nation toward an alliance with the Nazis. “Class” by Stephanie Land is a memoir of motherhood, hunger, and higher education. Land’s first memoir, “Maid” was adapted into a Netflix series. “Maid” was a story about a housecleaner, but it was also a story about a woman with a dream. In “Class” Land takes us with her as she finishes college at the University of Montana and pursues her writing career.

“The Heaven and Earth Grocery Store” by James McBride is a novel about small-town secrets and the people who keep them.
