Chinook Social Senior Center Fundraiser to Be Held At The Eagles December 10th

December 6, 2023

The Chinook Senior Center, under new Director, Ginger Hansen, will be hosting a “Live Auction” on December 10th. Ginger and the members at the Senior Center have been very busy since she took over back in June of ’23. This outgoing group of seniors proves that you’re never too old to have fun. Ginger and the crew are always putting on different social events and everyone is welcome to join them. Recently they’ve been a part of, the Sugarbeet Festival parade, hosted an Ice Cream Social, Corn Hole Tournaments, “Poets & Pickers”, and have brought in a variety of guest speakers.

The Center relies heavily on volunteers and Ginger can’t say enough about them, “I have been richly blessed by many new “Volunteers”, which are people who come into the Center, whenever their schedules allow and help in many different capacities. These are people whose lives are enriched by what they can do with a few small hours of their lives, to help others. These people all possess different gifts. These are people with hearts of kindness, who bring joy and light to others. These are people who make our world, however small or large, a much happier place to be.”

Some costs are saved by all who volunteer their time, but maintenance still needs to be done, staff needs to be paid and items need to be bought in order to keep the Senior Center alive and well. To help with those costs, Ginger will be hosting a small “Live Auction” on Sunday, December 10 at 2:00 p.m. at the Chinook Eagles Club. The auction will be conducted by our very own Kevin Elias. “The event will be a very fun day and will include a variety of auction items that would make great Christmas gifts. Items are generously donated by community members with a heart for the Center”, Ginger states.

This event is for everyone. It will be a great community event that provides friends and family with a great setting to visit, catch up and enjoy an afternoon together while supporting a worthy cause.

All funds generated from the dinner go towards helping the Senior Center in whatever capacity it may need. Chinook is very lucky to have such a spectacular place, like the Senior Center, where one can go and enjoy a cup of coffee, socialize and have fun.

On December 8th there will be a memorial Christmas tree lighting with special ornaments starting at 2:00 p.m. at the Center with music provided by Sherri Miller.

Be sure to check out the Blaine County Journal as well as the Senior Center’s Facebook page each week for what’s happening at the Center. A staple of the Senior Center still happens daily, morning coffee. Rest assured there is always coffee on whatever time you stop in. The Chinook Senior Center offers a great lunch Monday through Friday, come in sit down and visit while you eat. If you’re looking for something fun to do, head on down to the Senior Center and see what’s going on.
