Blaine County Library

We hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! The holidays are a slow time at the library. We used the time to do some cleaning, weeding, and updating our book collection. We put many new books in the on-going book sale, located in the entry of the library. Books are 50 cents each or 3 for $1.00 or you can grab a bag from one of the librarians and fill it for $3.00! We also have back issues of magazines in the entry that are free for the taking.

Winter programs are now under way at the library. Some of our programs have changed and we altered the time a bit to allow kids to get home before dark. Monday will be 4th-8th grade activity from 3:45 to 4:45 p.m. Tuesday will be Story Time from 10:30 to 11:00 a.m. This program is for preschool and younger children. Hangout for grades 5-8 will be Tuesdays from 3:45-4:45 p.m. Wednesday will be Home School Hour from 1:30-2:30 p.m. Teen Scene for teenagers 13 to 18 is every other Wednesday from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursdays will be LEGO Club from 3:45-4:45 p.m. Fridays will be Movie Day. We will show a family friendly movie from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome to join us. We do ask that no children under 5 attend movies without an adult. We provide snacks and drinks at all after school programs.

The library will be closed Monday January 15th in observance of Martin Luther King Day.

We have several new books ready this week. “We Must Not Think of Ourselves” by Lauren Grodstein is a heart-wrenching novel of love and defiance. It was inspired by a little-known piece of history—the underground group that kept an archive to ensure that the lives of Jewish occupants of the Warsaw Ghetto in World War II were not lost to history. In “The Ball at Versailles” by Danielle Steel, four American debutantes, all with something to prove, receive what some see as the invitation of a lifetime to attend a renowned Paris cotillion. “Unnatural Death” by Patricia Cornwell is the latest Scarpetta novel. “The Secret Keeper” by Kate Morton is a spellbinding novel of family secrets, murder, and enduring love. “A Montan Rivalry” by Jim Overstreet is book one of the Rodeo in the Blood series.
