Harlem Library

January 10, 2024

Read more in 2024! I hope that is your goal and you also include taking advantage of all the services your local library has to offer.

Here are some new titles to get you started on your reading journey. “The Leftover Woman” is a novel by Jean Kwok. Jasmine Yang arrives in New York City fleeing from an abusive husband and searching for her daughter who was taken from her at birth. Publishing executive Rebecca Whiney has a high-powered career, wealth, and an adopted Chinese daughter she adores. These two unforgettable women are on a collision course.

Bestselling author William Kent Krueger’s latest work is “The River We Remember.” On Memorial Day, 1958, the people of Jewel, Minnesota, gather to honor those who have sacrificed in service to our country. The body of wealthy landowner Jimmy Quinn is found floating in the Alabaster River. Vicious rumors point to Noah Bluestone, a Native American WWII vet who has recently returned to Jewel with his Japanese wife. Suspicions and accusations mount and lead to violence.

A new David Baldacci 6:20 Man thriller is “The Edge.” Michael Connelly’s latest Lincoln Lawyer novel is “Resurrection Walk.” These two books are available in regular and large type.

“The Invisible Hour” is written by Alice Hoffman. Mia Jacob can no longer see a way to survive until she discovers “The Scarlet Letter.” Written two hundred years earlier, it seems to tell the story of Mia’s mother, Ivy, and their life inside the Community. How could Nathaniel Hawthorne have captured the pain and loss Mia carries inside her?

The Book Challenge for January is to read a book with a three-word title.

The library will be closed Monday, January 15 in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
