'Beeter Boys go 1-2, take down Cowboys 55-47

On Thursday, the Chinook boys took on the Choteau Bulldogs at home. The game started with the Beeters gaining seven points from senior Jackson Nordboe while giving up 15 points to the Bulldogs. Trailing 15-11 in the second quarter, the Beeters offense fell short, scoring just seven points. Junior Landen Beck scored three to go with a pair of free-throws and senior Gyme Kelly added two points of his own. As the teams started the second half, it seemed as though Choteau had all the momentum and increased the lead to 46-29 by the end of the third quarter. In the end, the Bulldogs earned a 57-37 win over the 'Beeters. The 'Beeters were led by Jackson Nordboe with 13 points, Gyme Kelly with 10 and Beck with seven.

The following night, the 'Beeters hosted the Conrad Cowboys. Freshman Jameson Nordboe led the way with six points in the first quarter, while junior Carson Nissen contributed three and freshman Isaac Kelly a pair of free-throws. Freshman Ryan Bell knocked down a three and a free-throw as well. Chinook scored 15 points to end the quarter while holding the Cowboys to just 11. In the second quarter, the 'Beeters earned four points from Jameson Nordboe while the Cowboys scored 15 in the second frame, giving the cowboys a 26-24 lead into halftime. Following the break, the 'Beeters were looking to open things up with Isaac Kelly scoring five more points and Nissen adding four en route to a 15 point third quarter for the 'Beeters. The defense really stood tall in the third quarter, allowing the Cowboys just five points, giving the Beeters a 39-31 edge heading into the fourth quarter. Coming down the stretch, Beck scored four points, including two from the charity stripe, while Gyme Kelley added four and Nissen five to give the Beeters 16 points in the quarter to give the 'Beeters a 55-47 win over Conrad. Nissen led the way with 14 points, Jackson Nordboe contributed 10 and Ryan Bell added eight.


Saturday the boys were on the road to take on the Rocky Boy Morning Stars in a district 1B conference game. The 'Beeters managed ten points in the first quarter, but the Stars stormed out with 24. In the first half, the 'Beeters were led by Jackson Nordboe with 9 points, while the team trailed 47-26 after one half. The Beeter offense maintained the attack and played well in the third quarter, scoring 21 in the frame with Isaac Kelley scoring four, Jackson Nordboe scoring four and Gyme Kelly adding six to the 'Beeter total. Unfortunately, the Stars had a much bigger quarter, scoring 30 to take a 77-47 lead at the end of the third quarter. The Beeters scored 11 points down the stretch, but the Stars kept their foot on the gas and added 23 more points in the fourth quarter to earn a 100-58 win over the 'Beeters.

The 'Beeters will next host Fairfield Eagles on February 1st and then travel to Conrad to take on the Cowboys on February 9th.
