The Blaine County Library Board of Trustees will hold their regular monthly meeting Monday

February 26th at 4:30 p.m. in the library meeting room.

It’s hard to believe February is almost over! Time flies when you’re having fun. Our Valentines Station was so much fun we decided to have a Black History Month activity table for the remainder of February. Kids can enjoy activities and learn about Martin Luther King, Ruby Ridges, and Garret Morgan. I confess, I did not know who Garret Morgan was until today. Garret Morgan was the creator of the stop light as well as the gas mask.

We have three movies available this week. The Hill is an inspiring, true story of baseball phenomenon Rickey Hill, the son of a small-town traveling pastor. Rickey shows an extraordinary talent for baseball despite being burdened by leg braces from a degenerative spinal disease. Driven by his faith and love of the sport, he continues to play against his father’s wishes. But when a scout for the major league arrives, he must overcome his worsening condition and the division it causes in his family to fulfill his dream of playing professional baseball. In The Hunger Games: Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, the prequel to The Hunger Games, a young Coriolanus Snow - decades before becoming the tyrannical President of Panem - battles his instincts between good and evil as he mentors Lucy Gray Baird in the 10th Hunger Games. In Trolls Band Together Poppy grows closer to her now boyfriend Branch, she discovers his secret past as a member of her favorite boyband, BroZone, with his four estranged brothers. When Branch’s bro Floyd is kidnapped for his musical talents by a pair of nefarious popstars, Branch and Poppy embark on an action-packed journey to reunite the other brothers and rescue Floyd. Along the way Poppy uncovers a family secret of her own, a long-lost sister named Viva.

Winter programs are now under way at the library. Some of our programs have changed and we altered the time a bit to allow kids to get home before dark. Monday will be 4th-8th grade activity from 3:45 to 4:45 p.m., except the last Monday of the month. Tuesday will be Story Time from 10:30 to 11:00 a.m. This program is for preschool and younger children. Hangout for grades 5-8 will be Tuesdays from 3:45-4:45 p.m. Wednesday will be Home School Hour from 1:30-2:30 p.m. This is a family led program, so if we don’t have volunteers to host the program, there won’t be one that week. We are happy to provide supplies for programs. If you would like to sign up to host, you can find a google doc signup sheet on our Facebook page, or you can contact Emily at the library. Teen Scene for teenagers 13 to 18 is every other Wednesday from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. The next one will be February 21st. Thursdays will be LEGO Club from 3:45-4:45 p.m. Fridays will be Movie Day. We will show a family friendly movie from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome to join us. We do ask that no children under 5 attend movies without an adult. We provide snacks and drinks at all after school programs.
