George Von Boushie

George Von Boushie (Yellow Owl) began his journey to the Big Sands on February 10, 2024.

George was the 7th child born to Richard "Johnny" Boushie, Sr. and Roberta Whitecow on September 18, 1969. He was educated at St. Paul's Mission and Hays/Lodge Pole High schools. Upon his graduation in May, 1987, George immediately left for his service with the United States Army.

George's employment included the Fort Belknap Indian Community, Fort Belknap Housing Authority, Poteet Construction Services; as a Montana Indian Firefighter (MIF), squad boss, inspector and thinning crew member. George also worked as a house mover and mechanic and labored for several ranchers. He greatly appreciated the respected friendship while at the Larry Billmayer Ranch north of Harlem.

George loved working with and riding horses, breaking many when asked to "swing on". He was better known as an Indian relay rider and was dedicated to the Kirkaldie Indian Relay Team - riding to a World Champion title at the Crow Fair.

In November of 2000 George met the love of his life Nancy and united their family in marriage on November 23, 2002. He dearly loved and enjoyed raising the union's 6 children and cherished being blessed with his 17 grandchildren. He made many memories with them and for them as they were his world and each holding a special place in his heart.

He shared many teachings, stories and tricks that he accumulated as a spontaneous traveler. He enjoyed the outdoors in many aspects and left a unique and lasting impression for those fortunate to have known and befriended George "Brush".

He is preceded by his Boushie and Whitecow grandparents; sister Debbie Boushie; nephews Swede and Colten Boushie, Terry Cliff, Jr., Shae' Broncho, Hunter Lewis and Hunter Strait, Travis First Raised, Rick Doney, T'Jay Allen; nieces Aliyah Gray and Abby Main; in-laws Roberta "Bobbi" Adams, Francis "Cutt" Adams, Frankie First Raised, Jay T. Allen.

Surviving are his beloved wife Nancy and their sons Cody (Nicolette) and Craig (Alicia) Adams, Monty, Jr., Jordan and Jarrison Snow; daughters Marlayna (Michael) Snow and Andrea Boushie; parents Robert "Bubbs" and Roberta "Itty" Werk; brothers Richard (Lona), Pete, Ted (Lester), Sam (NeNe) Boushie and Troy "Pug" Werk; sisters Sandy (Ace) Meshell, Lorraine (Darryl) Pester, Rosalie, Charity and April (Terry, Sr.) Boushie; God-children Christopher Cliff, Heaven and Sheraya Boushie; his beloved 4-legged companion "Jake"; numerous nephews, nieces, aunts, cousins and friends.
