Thomas Thackeray at Chinook Senior Center

April 17, 2024

All are welcome as the Chinook Senior Center hosts Thomas Thackeray in an author presentation on Tuesday April 23, 2024 at 1PM at the Senior Center.

Thomas Thackeray’s collection of short stories published in 2022 as Treading Air and Other Stories, is a spare and unblinking examination of growing up on a working ranch.

Thackeray will also discuss his recently published book of poetry, The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Being Wonderful, which draws on a lifetime of observing the mystery of our existence in a complex world. Its description on the Amazon.com website calls it “Poetry pondering cosmic wondering.”

One example of that cosmic wondering is the paradoxical final stanza of the poem “Bald Eagle.”

yet the eagle prevails/in spite of all attempts/to save it

Thackeray, who graduated from Chinook High School, is a recently retired Roundup High School English teacher raised in a ranching family. He has two children and seven grandchildren.

The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Being Wonderful and Treading Air and Other Stories by Thomas Thackeray are available at Amazon.com in both paperback and Kindle editions.

Friends of the Library will provide refreshments. Copies of Treading Air and Other Stories and The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Being Wonderful will be available at the 1:00PM presentation on April 23.
