With school back in session, the streets around campuses will once again be filled with the familiar rush of students heading to and from class, parents dropping off their children, and buses making their rounds. It's a busy scene, and a good reminder for everyone to slow down, stay alert, and use extra caution-especially near grade schools where the youngest students are on the move. In Chinook, school policy states that student crossing guards are assigned to help children safely cross the...

Across the Hi-Line, August is fair month, and with the Blaine County Fair past, various families now focus on August as back-to-school month. While many of our monthly designations are in fact determined by activities and tradition, a fair number of national days are invented by organizations or companies hoping to generate interest in their mission or products. That's where we get National Creamsicle Day on August 14, for example, or National Potato Day on August 19. "Creamsicle" is the brand...

Rod Sodergren had many interests during a long retirement from Texaco. He was known around the region and beyond for his elegant HO Guage model railroad layout that took up much of his basement. Maybe it’s the neighbor boy, he likes to come over to visit.” We heard him say, ‘PLEASE, may I quic...
Hello From the Chinook Senior Center We understand that despite the recent deluge of rain, the Blaine County Fair did well, with the food booths. That is always a blessing. I have also heard that for those who attended either the PRCA Rodeos, or the Demolition Derby, they also were successful, so another year has gone and we look forward to another year. I am told that Moxley construction moved a lot of dirt to make it possible to hold the scheduled events, despite the tremendous amount of rain. Not certain that they are thanked quite enough...
