Austin Haney got the nickname "the accordion guy" while a student at the University of Montana. Told to play the instrument outside the dorm (during quiet hours), he said, "I moved to the Oval and sat on the Griz statue. All the dorms could hear me play." Later in a class exercise to meet classmates, when he said he played the accordion, someone shouted, "You're the accordion guy!" The name stuck. He said playing on campus was one of his fondest memories. "Maybe that will be my legacy," he added.
