    Hello From the Chinook Social Senior Center! We continue to have more & more fun here, with the Cornhole, the Billiards, the Cribbage & the Bingo. Several of our local people adventured off on the Senior Connection tour bus with Steve Edwards and his lovely wife Sherry, to Cincinnati to visit the “Replica of the Ark”.     JUMP youth Group will be conducting a food drive to benefit the Chinook Food Pantry. The Food Pantry benefits anyone with a need as long as they are Blaine County residents. JUMP has been involved in a yearly food drive for well over 10 years and have collected thousands of pounds of food and household items for the pantry.     This past Sunday, September 24, Havre Trails partnered with Hays-Lodgepole High School science teacher Rod Benson, who offered a hike to Hole in the Wall and Mission Ridge in Mission Canyon just outside of Hays, Montana.     Last Sunday, September 10, the Chinook FFA Alumni held an FFA Recruitment Barbecue and Fundraising Trap Shoot at the shooting range on the Clear Creek Road. Four new teachers have been added to staff for the 2023-2024 school year, though the school is still looking to fill some roles.     The Chinook Rod and Gun Club will be holding a Fall Meat Shoot Fundraiser on September 23. The purpose of the Shoot is to raise funds for the installation of overhead lights at the Trap Range and new Archery Range.     For the past two summers a dedicated group of volunteers has been meeting in Fort Benton for two week-long work sessions each summer. They are refurbishing the "Mandan," one of three keelboats built in the 1960's for the movie "Big Sky." Only one of the three boats has survived and it has been on the shore of the Missouri River in downtown Fort Benton for nearly sixty years.     The Chinook Rod and Gun Club received official notification on August 31 that they had received a grant award from the Fish Wildlife and Parks (FWP) in a program to improve safety at gun and archery ranges. The local Club was among twelve awardee organizations. Awarded through the Montana Shooting Range Grant Program, the $16,605 grant is a 50/50 split.
