Triangle announces 2015 Smart Rural Connected Community Challenge Program

As part of its commitment to strengthening rural communities, Triangle Communications (Triangle) again encourages applicants for its Smart Rural Connected Community Challenge program. Two communities from within Triangle’s service area will be selected as Connected Communities in 2015. Triangle is excited to offer this unique opportunity and looks forward to working closely with the selected communities to leverage the value of Broadband while seeking to increase the vitality of these communities in a connected world.
As awardees, each community will receive a $2,500 grant to be used to implement projects outlined in a local Broadband Action Plan developed as part of the Community Challenge process. Anne Boothe, Triangle’s Economic Development Specialist, describes why Triangle is so excited about this program, “Broadband can be an incredible economic development opportunity for our communities. Individuals and businesses are using technology to overcome distance and geography in choosing where they want to live and work.”
Eligible applicants can be recognized non-profits (including chambers of commerce or economic developments entities), municipal and Tribal organizations. Applications are available at http://www.itsTriangle.com under the Economic Development tab. The deadline to submit is Friday, November 20, 2015 by 5:00 PM. Successful applicants will be notified before yearend and the program will begin early in 2016.
