The 2015-16 Chinook Boys Varsity Basketball Team. The Chinook Sugarbeeter boys basketball team is a mix of strong veteran leadership and inexperienced potential.

The 'Beeters advanced to the Northern C a season ago and look to repeat the feat again this year.

Back for head coach Mike Seymour are seniors Travis Hamilton and Ian McIntosh.

McIntosh was an All-Conference performer and will be a three year starter at the point guard position. Hamilton started every game a season ago and will be counted on to lead the team as well.

The junior trio of Robert Smith, Kyler Johnson and Kyle McMaster will look to make the jump to varsity ball and contribute.

Seymour had eight varsity jerseys available this weekend and the final three spots will protect the paint and all three are freshman. Cord Schneider, Issac Bell and Brenden Edwards will get their first taste of varsity action this weekend and should be up to the task.

Sophomore Tamer Jamieson is back for his second season. Freshman Trajan Hannum, Chase Moxley, James Christensen, Riley Kellam and Tye Mitchell round out the roster.

"Ian has great leadership and were going to rely on him. The key is not do to much. Travis will be counted on to share the load," said Seymour.

"The juniors, Kyle, Kyler and Robert got a ton of court time at the junior varsity level a year ago and got to experience those extra weeks of practice in the post season as we played at the Northern C," added Seymour.

"They will have to buy into their rolls and play to the best of their ability," said Seymour.

The freshman class has a ton of potential but have yet to experience the next level of basketball and Seymour is curious as to how they will respond, "Our underclassmen are going to have to develop and show improvement from practice to practice, game to game," commented Seymour. "We're going to have to work hard to row our boat, instead of just staying afloat."

Chinook opens up at the Chester preseason tournament with games this Thursday and Saturday.

"This weekend will give us a good gage as to where we are and where we need to go, it will be a good initiation for the younger kids," concluded Seymour.

Chinook will play Great Falls Central Thursday at 5:15 and Dutton/Brady at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
