The Harlem Wildcats evened their season series with the Chinook Sugarbeeters Thursday following a thrilling 57-49 win in a non-conference clash.

The two schools used to play some classic games back during their time in the District 5B but the renewal of the longtime rivalry has produced two down to the wire games that kept fans entertained from start to finish.

Wildcat junior Corbin Brockie's defensive effort led to a layup and a free throw and a quick 3-0 lead.

Chinook freshman Cord Schneider made a great move from the high post for a bucket. Freshman Isaac Bell corralled the offensive board the next trip down the court to give the 'Beeters their first lead 4-3.

Bell then found Schneider for a deuce and Chinooks lead was 6-3, The Wildcats had a answer as Senior Marcus Henry's steal and layup gave the Wildcats the lead back.

Junior Damon Adams added a free throw and Senior Keahna Little a basket for a 11-8 Wildcat lead.

Chinook freshman, Brendan Edwards filled the basket with a bomb from well beyond the arc and the teams were tied 11-11. Edwards followed the next possession with a basket off a dish from Bell and Chinook reclaimed the lead 13-11.

Wildcat senior Michael Butterfly dropped in a short jumper and then drained a long three off an assist from Henry to put Harlem back out in front 16-13.

Bell scored to cut the lead to 16-15 for the Wildcats entering the second quarter.

Henry swiped another Chinook pass and scored and junior Hollin Fox followed with an offensive rebound and score to give Harlem their biggest lead at 20-15.

Bell scored six straight points to trip the Wildcat advantage to 22-20 midway through the second quarter.

Little then turned the trick himself scoring six himself the last coming off another nice pass from Henry to give Harlem a 30-23 lead.

Freshman James Christensen showed he had some ice water in his veins knocking down two free throws with no time on the clock and everyone else in the locker room as Harlem led 30-25 at the break.
