The library has great new selections for you to read. Stop by and pick up one of these titles. “The Girls She Left Behind” is by Sarah Graves. A forest fire rages near the town of Bearkill in northern Maine. Teenager Tara Wylie, who has a history of running away, has disappeared again. Kidnapper and rapist, Henry Gemerle, has escaped from prison and may be hiding out near Bearkill. Sheriff’s deputy, Lizzie Snow, teams up with her boss and state policemen to try and save an innocent and to stop a monster. Someone else is also on the hunt for Tara and Henry for reasons that have nothing to do with justice.

Taylor Brown’s first novel is “Fallen Land.” This is the story of a young couple: Callum, a fifteen-year-old horse thief, and Ava, who has lost her whole family to the Civil War. They flee a dangerous band of marauders in the Blue Ridge Mountains and make their way across the burned wreckage of the South. With only each other and their remarkable horse, Callum and Ava must escape a bounty hunter, tracking dogs, and pillaging soldiers to start a new life together.

“The Forgotten Room” is a multigenerational novel by Karen White, Beatriz Williams, and Lauren Willig. The year is 1945. After being critically wounded, Captain Copper Ravenel is brought to a private hospital in Manhattan. Dr. Kate Schuyler discovers a mystery that connects three generations of women in her family to a room in a Gilded Age mansion. The woman in the captain’s miniature portrait looks much like Kate. Why is the woman wearing a ruby pendant Kate was given by her mother? In their pursuit of the truth Cooper and Kate must be ready to face the secrets of the Forgotten Room.

Are you ready for some new thrillers? Bestselling author Lisa Jackson has written “After She’s Gone.” “The First Order” is by Jeff Abbott. “Killing Trail” is a Timber Creek K-9 mystery by Margaret Mizushima. Tawni O’Dell is the author of “Angels Burning.”

“Montana, Warts and All” is a collection of stories taken from the first decade of “Montana Quarterly” magazine. The selections include topics such as living wild, eating and drinking, living history, truth tellers, pulling together, and more.

The Book Challenge for Feb. is to read a young adult novel. Contact the library with the title of the book you’ve read and your name will be entered in a drawing for a gift certificate from local business. With a nod to St. Patrick, March’s challenge is to read book with a green cover.

The Book Club will begin a new book “Cutting for Stone” by Abraham Verghese. You may pick up your copy Mar. 2, 4 P.M. in the meeting room.
