Helen Ida Blatter was born on April 3, 1931, in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was the youngest of 8 children born to Wanda Ida Bertha (Riemer) and William Conrad Schrader. After graduating from High School, Helen attended LDS Business College. She then worked as a secretary for a time before serving a mission to Switzerland for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It was there that she met her sweetheart, Kay Milton Blatter, who was also serving as a missionary.

When they returned home, they wrote letters to each other and eventually were married on August 11, 1958 in the Salt Lake City temple.

They settled in Chinook on the family farm. Four children were born to this joyous union, Heidi, LeAnna, Therron, and Timothy. Helen loved gathering the family for holidays, birthdays, and parties. She adored her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She will be remembered for her love of flowers and gardening as well as her participation in the community and bell choir.

On March 17, 2016, at the age of 84, Helen went to be with the Lord. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Wanda and William Schrader, siblings, Wilford, William, Minnie, Joseph, Wanda, and Irene, and her darling husband, Kay.

Helen is survived by her brother, George Schrader; children: Heidi (Eldwin) Brown, LeAnna (Ernest) Johnson, Therron (Karina) Blatter, Timothy (Julie) Blatter; grandchildren: Clinton (Melissa), Savanna, Heather, Connlin (Kelsey) Brown, Deven (Nayeli) Johnson, Natasha (Ryan) Davis, Carsey (Levi) Gonzalez, Krista (Craig) Sohn, Shani (Christian) Martin, Kaylan, Talya, Kyler, Lincy Johnson, Tyson (Yulia) Blatter, Kylee (Paul) Burnett, Tanner, Kalena, Tallus, Kessla Blatter, Aysha (Thomas) Maddox, Kyle (Amanda) Blatter, Blake Molder, Brytt Blatter, and 17 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Helen will be March 28, 2016 at 4:00 P.M. at the LDS Church in Chinook.

Edwards Funeral Home of Chinook is in charge of arrangements.
