Fresno Dam Hydroelectric Project organizers seek public input

Last January Alpine Pacific Utilities, a Kalispell-based engineering firm, filed a preliminary permit to study the feasibility of using Fresno Dam's excess overflow water to generate electricity. The preliminary permit is part of a process to obtain an operating license.

The operating license is required from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to begin producing electricity. A permit holder has a three-year window to obtain a license to generate electricity at a permitted site.
