The summer reading program kicks off tonight, June 1, with Family Fun Night from 6:30-8:00. Children must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. Join us for an evening filled with stories, games, crafts, prizes and snacks. Children may sign up for the summer reading program during the event.

Two weekly programs will be held during the months of June and July as part of the “On Your Mark, Get Set...READ!” summer reading program. Read to Me meets Tuesdays, 10 A.M. for children ages 0-preschool who must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. The Extreme Readers Club meets Thursdays, 1 P.M. for children in grades K-6. Kendra Seilstad from the Blaine County Extension Service will present the program “Fuel Your Engine” which explores healthy living through smart eating choices on June 9, 1 P.M.

Lego Club resumes Thursday, June 2, 6 P.M. in the library meeting room.

The Book Challenge for June is read a book you choose based solely on the cover.

“The Charm Bracelet” by Viola Shipman tells the story of three women who rediscover the importance of family and a passion for living through an heirloom charm bracelet. Now that Lolly is seventy and having difficulty remembering she knows time is short for her to share family stories with her daughter and granddaughter. An unexpected phone call brings Lolly’s daughter, Arden, and granddaughter, Lauren, home. During the visit Lolly shares the stories behind each charm on her bracelet and the three women reconnect.

Allison Brennan’s latest is “Poisonous.” When teenager Ivy Lake fell off a cliff few people cared because she was an Internet bully. Her mentally challenged brother Tommy is the only person who misses her. After a year the case has grown cold and it was never determined if Ivy’s death was an accident or deliberate. Tommy writes to investigative reporter Max Revere for help. With the help of her assistant Max realizes this is one case she might not be able to solve.

“Redemption Road” is by John Hart. This novel is filled with tension, secrets and betrayal. A boy waits with a gun for the man who killed his mother. In the aftermath of a brutal shooting a detective confronts her past. A good cop is finally free after thirteen years in prison while a body cools on the alter of an abandoned church.

Two new romances include “Best of My Love” by Susan Mallery and “Last Promise” by Scarlett Dunn.

Charles Bock is the author of the novel “Alice & Oliver.” It is 1993 in Manhattan where Oliver and Alice Culvert are raising their baby daughter Doe. Alice’s sudden cancer diagnosis forces the couple to confront the new realities of their marriage, their strengths and flaws, how to love against all odds, and what it means to truly care for another person.

Western readers will want to try “The Big Showdown” by Mickey Spillane and Max Allan Collins. Caleb York has made up his mind to leave Trinidad, New Mexico, and become a Pinkerton man in San Diego. But before his can say his goodbyes to his sweetheart, Willa, a band of outlaw brothers fill the town with gunfire and a new cattle baron determines to grab more land and Willa, too.

Millions of lives hang in the balance as Jerry Mitchell, skipper of the USS North Dakota, and his team track down stolen nuclear weapons. The terrorists must be stopped before a regional nuclear war explodes. Larry Bond has written “Fatal Thunder.”
