Summer Reading is quickly drawing to a close. Children are reminded to bring in their reading logs to earn prizes and to move ahead on the reading race track. The summer reading finale for all children who have participated will be July 28, 1 P.M. when we will celebrate with root beer floats and the movie “Zootopia.” The party will last until approximately 3 P.M.

The Friends of the Library fundraiser “Tea with Alice” will be July 27, 6 :30 P.M. at the library. This tea party will have an Alice in Wonderland theme and is a family friendly event. Admission will be $8 for adults and $5 for children.

The library has a new service available called “Shoutbomb.” This service allows you to be notified via text message if you have holds available, items due soon, or items overdue. Contact the library to find out how to sign up.

Brad Meltzer and Tod Goldberg have written “The House of Secrets.” Hazel Nash has grown up with the famous Jack Nash, host of the conspiracy TV show “The House of Secrets.” She loved hearing his tall tales, especially the one about a leather book belonging to Benedict Arnold that was hidden in a corpse. Now an adult, Hazel has lost her memory in a car accident that killed her father. The FBI shows up with questions about her dad and his connection to the corpse of a man with a priceless book that belonged to Benedict Arnold stuffed in his chest. Hazel tries to solve the mystery of the past and present, who her father really was, and what he was doing for the government.

When her abilities become too strong for her to handle, she seeks out the help of her grandmother, Eloise, a renowned psychic. Merri Gleason has spent the last harrowing ten month looking for he her missing daughter. Although she is not a believer, she resorts to hiring detective Jones Cooper who works with Eloise. The investigation proves to have more at stake than a missing girl.

Finley and Eloise are drawn deeper into the town and its endless layers.

The Book Challenge for July is to read a book set in the summertime. Notify the library with the title of the book and your name will be entered into a drawing for a gift certificate from a local business.
