How do you think God hears our prayers? Only spoken out loud; only in silence; only from the church pulpit or pew; only from your prayer closet; only when you are at bible study; only from the mouths of others, a friend, a preacher or someone who says the prayer 'just right'?

God's word says, 'Ask, and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you." (Matthew 7:7)

The Harlem Yoked Parish (Presbyterian & United Methodist) has planted two local Prayer Boxes in the Harlem community.

The Prayer Boxes, posted in front of each of the two church buildings, are for easy and convenient access by individuals seeking the need of prayer.

A prayer request can be written on a Prayer Request form inside the Prayer Box and can then be easily slipped into the locked mail Prayer Box to be gathered each Sunday morning before service. Prayers submitted are kept confidential and the submitter's name does not need to be attached.

The small congregation of the Yoked Parish has found the most important thing they do to serve their Lord is to 'pray for others'. It doesn't hurt. It doesn't cost anything. And, most significantly which they have learned from personal experience, that prayer is POWERFUL. Feel free to walk by with a prayer and drop a request into the Prayer Box. The faithful congregation will lift you up to the Lord as He asked them to do.

"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made know to God." (Philippians 4:6)
