Don’t miss the book signing by local author Betty Billmayer on Thursday, Nov. 3, from 6:00-7:30 at the library. Betty’s new children’s book is “The Princess and Pea...Nut Butter Sandwich.” The books will be on sale for $12.00. Betty will give a book talk at 6:30 and refreshments will be served. These books will make great gifts for children and grandchildren. Betty’s first book “Apples to Zebras” will also be available for purchase for $7.00. Bring the whole family for this fun evening! There will be no Lego Club this evening.

The Book Challenge for November is to read a funny book.

The new book for The Book Club, a book discussion group for adults, is “All the Light We Cannot See” by Anthony Doerr. You may pick up your copy Oct. 31-Nov. 4. The first discussion will be held Nov. 7, 4 P.M. in the library meeting room.

The new novel by Christina Dodd is “Because I’m Watching.” Madeline Hewitson has survived a college dorm massacre and is accused of her lover’s murder. These ghosts haunt her as she is tormented in her mind by a killer who only appears at night. Her neighbor is veteran Jacob Denisov who is captive in his own home by feelings of guilt from his own failures and the carnage that followed. When Madeline runs her car through the front wall of his home, he is forced out into the world. He recognizes a kindred spirit in Madeline and wonders if he can help her find the answer to her delusions.

Jennifer Chiaverini’s new novel is “Fates and Traitors” a novel of John Wilkes Booth. The infamous Booth is well-known as the murderer of Abraham Lincoln. Lost to history until now are four women in Booth’s life whom he loved and who loved him. As their stories intertwine they attempt to answer the question of who John Wilkes Booth really is.

Three new mysteries are “Rob Thy Neighbor” by David Thurlo, “Thrice the Brinded Cat Hath Mew’d” by Alan Bradley, and “Pushing Up Daisies” by M.C. Beaton.

“Revenge in a Cold River” is written by Anne Perry. Police Commander Monk is called to investigate the drowning of an escaped prisoner and contend with customs office McNab who holds a bitter grudge. As the case unfolds, Monk explores the possibility of a conspiracy as he receives veiled threats and cryptic messages. As he walks into a trap, Monk’s life is held in the balance.

A new autobiography is “Love Warrior” by Glennon Doyle Melton. Melton’s life is turned upside down when she discovers her husband’s infidelity. A recovering alcoholic and bulimic, she hits rock bottom once again, a place that feels familiar. But in this place of despair, Melton discovers that in deepest pain there is an invitation to a richer life.

J.D. Robb’s latest is “Apprentice in Death.” Danielle Steel readers will want to check out “Rushing Waters.” “An Obvious Fact” is the new Longmire mystery from Craig Johnson.

The library will again have its used book sale in December. If you have books or movies in good condition you would like to donate for the sale please bring them to the library. The money raised will be used for the Summer Reading Program.

The library will be closed Nov. 8 for Election Day and Veteran’s Day, Nov. 11.
