The Chinook High School Speech and Drama Club hosted a Mystery Dinner Theater performance last Tuesday at the Meadowlark school. The performance titled 'Death in Them Thar Hills' helped raise money for their club and the 'My Student in Need' program. Chinook High School's Speech and Drama team charmed guests with a delightful mystery dinner theater performance. The students and teachers hosted the event at the Meadowlark Elementary School gym on the evening of Tuesday, November 15th. This wild west murder mystery kept the audience captivated and guessing throughout the dinner as they tried to deduce who murdered gold mine owner Dusty Jones.

Two years ago, the Speech and Drama team held their first mystery dinner theater event to raise money for their club and for the 'My Student in Need' program. This program works to provide school supplies, club and activity fees, etc. for students that have a financial need. They make sure that students aren't excluded from activities because their family may not be able to afford it.

The Speech and Drama team have donated items for a silent auction at each performance and raised about $400 for the charitable program during that first dinner. This year, they beat their previous efforts and raised $485.

All of the silent auction proceeds go to 'My Student in Need' while the ticket sales go towards fundraising efforts for the Speech and Drama team. These funds make their entire year possible. They use it to purchase scripts, props, and costumes as well as to help cover breakfasts and water for trips taken for performances and competitions.

If you didn't make it to this performance, be sure to attend another this school year!
