Phyliss Josephine (Murphy) Valandra, 84, of Newburgh, passed away Friday, December 9, 2016, at Deaconess VNA Plus Charlier Hospice Center. Phyliss was born in Havre, Mont., on May 26, 1932, to the late Phillip and Ruby (Rafter) Murphy.

Phyliss was a devout Christian and attended Crossroads Christian Church for many years. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and was devoted to her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis H. Valandra, who died in 1994.

Phyliss is survived by her sons, Kevin Valandra (Jenny) of Newburgh, Kent Valandra of Evansville, Randy Valandra (Kris) of Evansville, and Rodney Valandra (Shirley) of Hebron, Ky .; daughter, Karen Valandra of Tell City, Ind .; grandchildren, Lauren, Ryan, Aaron, Brittany, Zac and Kara; seven great-grandchildren; and brother, James Murphy (Terri) of Yuma, Ariz.

Funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Monday, December 12, 2016, at Alexander East Chapel, with entombment in Alexander Memorial Park. Friends visited Monday from 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
