Ruby (Has Eagle) First Smoke “Iyą́ Kneknéǧa Wiyá” (Spotted Rock Woman), 90 of Lodge Pole, Montana passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2017. Wake services were held at 7:00 P.M., Thursday, January 26, 2017 at Chief Enemy Killer Center in Lodge Pole, Montana. Funeral services were held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, January 27, 2017 at the Chief Enemy Killer Center. Burial followed at the Has Eagle Family Cemetery in Big Warm, MT. Grandma Ruby was born March 12, 1926 To Victoria BullCap Has Eagle and Joseph “Zeke” Has Eagle. She was raised in Lodge Pole and lived most of her life there. Her hobbies included: sewing patch quilts, bingo, picking berries, making dry meat, and collecting dolls and toys. She loved riding horses in her younger days, enjoyed selling pop & candy bars and most of all loved spending time with her grandkids. She enjoyed being outdoors and visiting anyone with tea or coffee. Family was very important to her and she loved them all with her whole heart. She was known as “Gramma Ruby” to everyone, even if they weren’t her grandkids by blood. She treated adopted grandkids as her own.
Grandma loved to tell stories, play pranks and loved to laugh. She married James First Smoke and later divorced him. She then met Percy Plumage and he spent the rest of his life with her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, spouse, siblings and four daughters: Parents- Joseph “Zeke” & Victoria Has Eagle; Spouse- Percy Plumage; Sisters- Christine “Chinny” Long Fox, Darlene Parisian, Maxine Has Eagle and Myra Has Eagle. Brothers- Gary Has Eagle, Wilfred Has Eagle, Gilbert Has Eagle, Calvin Snell, Curtis Snell, and Jessie Snell. Daughters- Vera (Jackson) Cliff, Peggy Jackson, Justine First Smoke and Edwina First Smoke.
Ruby is survived by her children and sibling: Nadie Westphal, Dorcas Has Eagle (Clyde), LeeAnn Martinez, Jamie Stanley (Tom), Delbert Jackson Sr. (Angie), and Charlie Wing (Cecelia). Randy Wing (Pat), who she called her little brother.
She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. We sincerely apologize if we missed anyone.
