March 4, 2017, Chinook FFA members took off for Conrad at 4:00 a.m. to compete in their Crops and Mechanics competition.

This competition is unique, because individual seminars are set up for the first half of the day for the two competitions.

For Crops, the seminars included: Crop Staging, Machinery, Grain Grading, Integrated Pest Management, Weeds, and Soils.

For Mechanics, the seminars included: Small Engines, Electrical, Stairs, Identification of Combine Parts, Combine Safety, Identifications of Semi-Truck Parts, and GMAW Welding.

During the second half of the day the actual competition takes place, and members go from station to station to complete an approximately 25 question test on the information they were presented the first half of the day.

Sierra Swank was the only member participating in Crops. Wade Schneider, Cord Schneider, Michael Warburton, Brad Pelesky, Jackson Schmele, and Ethan Liddle participated in Mechanics.

The Senior Mechanics Team placed 6th. Individually Michael Warburton placed 13th, Wade Schneider placed 20th, and Cord Schneider trailed right after his brother with a 27th place finish. Sierra Swank tied for 28th individually in Crops. Finally, Jackson placed 1st in the Discovery Division for Mechanics. Congratulate these members for a job well done.
