The tandem of Lisa Hwang and Whitney Doney compete in Choteau this past weekend.

The Chinook Sugarbeeters have had their way at the Northern B/C Divisional having qualified their entire varsity roster the past three seasons for the State Tournament and in the process easily winning the Divisional crown.

This spring the team doesn't have quit the depth as in the past but will still be the clear favorite heading into the weekend.

Senior Nicole McCracken and junior Jamie Roth have shined in the singles competition and senior Bailey Zumbrun has acclimated herself very well to the varsity level.

The Sugarbeeters have put together a very solid doubles team consisting of junior Sierra Swank and junior Megan Pruttis. The tandem has picked up some stellar wins this spring over other top contenders from around the state and will look to capture the doubles title in Havre this weekend.

In the final regular season competition for the Sugarbeeters, head Coach Thom MacLean took four girls to compete in Choteau this past weekend.

"Only four of our players were available to attend. It was a dual format, with Chinook teaming up with Valier to compose a full team and together playing Whitehall and then Simms," stated MacLean.

Junior Jamie Roth will look to advance to State in Singles this weekend.

The small group got in some quality court time heading into the Divisional Tournament, "Sierra Swank and Jamie Roth played singles this weekend, while Lisa Hwang and Whitney Doney played doubles. We were also able to pick up a couple extra matches, one each for Sierra and Jamie," added MacLean.

With the school year winding down, there seems to be a lot of activities student athletes are trying to complete and between festivals and competition it's tough to get everyone where they need to be, "It was unfortunate that our entire team wasn't available to attend, especially this close to our Divisional Tournament, but the players who attended got some quality court time and the weather was wonderful," concluded MacLean.

Chinook, Harlem and Chester-Joplin-Inverness will battle it out at the Northern B/C in Havre this Thursday and Friday.

The top four Singles players and the top three Doubles teams will advance to the State B/C in Missoula next week.
