Turner High School honors students at 2017 Spring Awards Banquet

The 2016-2017 Awards ceremony was held this past Monday evening in the school gymnasium. Junior and Senior High students along with their parents were in attendance along with school staff.

A welcome was done by Student Council President, Ella Billmayer. Dessert and beverages were served to the group before extra curricular awards were announced.

Mr. Russ McKenna presented the Academic All State awards. Those receiving an award for basketball were Ella Billmayer, Sarah Billmayer, Raegan Conlan, Rylee Conlan, Jack Harmon, Tracer Heilig, Melanie Watkins, Rennay Watkins, and Cody Welsh.

Track Scholars were Sarah Billmayer, Stacie Cornell, Eddie Cornell, Jack Harmon, and Cody Welsh.

The Scholar Athlete award was presented to Ella Billmayer.

Mr. Zach Holland, basketball coach presented the Boys basketball awards. The Most Rebound Award went to Eddie Harmon with 137 rebounds for the season, Most Assists went to Tracer Heilig with 30, Best Freethrow percentage went to Eddie Harmon with 70%, and Most Improved player was presented to Kurt Calvert. Other awards for boys basketball were as follows:

Player of the Year- Eddie Harmon.

Defense Award- Eddie Harmon.

Mr. Hustle- Eddie Harmon.

6th man off the bench and free throw percentage of 70%- Shane Kimmel.

Two Most Valuable Player Awards- Eddie Harmon and Cody Welsh.

All Conference Selection- Eddie Harmon.

Two Managers received pins and they were presented to Trever Kimmel and Shay Humphreys.

Lettering for the first time- Austin Welsh and Ethan Heilig.

Those receiving shirts were Jack Harmon and Eddie Harmon.

MIP- Cody Welsh shirt and pin.

Receiving a shirt and pin were- Kurt Calvert, Clayton Krass, Shane Kimmel, Tracer Heilig, and Ethan Heilig.

Girls Coach, Jen Baird and Assistant Coach, Darci Ammen presented Girls basketball awards. They are as follows:

Managers: Brooke Reed, Laci Maloney, and Lacey Hickel.

Letters: Alaynee Hawley, Brandy Calvert, and Shyan Krass.

Third year letters: Rylee Conlan, Reagan Conlin, and Melenie Watkins.

Most Rebounds: Ella Billmayer with 122.

Miss Defense: Sarah Billmayer.

Miss Hustle: Rylee Conlan.

Miss Offense: Ella Billmayer.

Most Improved: Brandy Calvert.

6th player off the bench: Shyan Krass.

Free Throws: Shyan Krass (63%).

Assists: Ella Billmayer.

MVP: Ella Billmayer with 11.4 points per game, 2 assists, 6 rebounds, 40% from the field.

All Conference Team: Ella Billmayer.

5th year Letter Winners: Ella Billmayer and Rennay Watkins.

Mrs. Shelly Harmon presented awards to people in the National Honor Society. She empathized that the Honor Society was responsible for helping with Santa Bags, Organizing Town Clean Up, and the basketball camp recently held. Awards were presented to:

President: Rennay Watkins.

Vice President: Ella Billmayer.

New Inductees with pins: Raegan Conlan, Rylee Conlan, Stacie Cornell, Tracer Heilig, Melanie Watkins.

Adviser for Pep Club, Denita Humphreys, presented awards. She explained that the Pep Club is responsible for locker decorations at various times throughout the season, and Pep Rallies throughout the year. There is a travelling award presented to a community member who attends most all events throughout the season. This year the award was presented to Jesse and Tacy Van Voast. Officers for the Pep Club, Melanie Watkins, Ella Billmayer, Rennay Watkins, and Cody Welsh presented the award to them.

Mr. Michael "Donnie" Hutton presented the Student Council Awards to the following people:

Pins: Ella Billmayer, Stacie Cornell, Ryanne Briere, Shane Kimmel, Sarah Billmayer, Tracer Heilig, Cody Welsh, Melanie Watkins, and Rennay Watkins. These are the officers and class representatives.

Levi Humphreys presented Track awards to the following tracksters:

Bar pins: Stacie Cornell, Cody Welsh, Clayton Krass, Eddie Harmon.

foot Pin: Jack Harmon and Sarah Billlmayer.

High Point Male: Eddie Harmon.

High Point Female: Sarah Billmayer.

Female Most Improved: Stacie Cornell (Plaque).

Male Most Improved: Clayton Krass (Plaque).

Academic Awards were then presented. Mrs. April Fox presented the Art Student of the year to Eddie Harmon.

Mrs. Heather Jorgenson presented two English of the Year Awards to Ella Billmayer and Rennay Watkins.

Mr. Zach Holland prsented the Student of the Year Award for History to Clayton Krass.

Mrs. Michelle Keller presented the Math Awards. They are as follows:

Student Aide: Rennay Watkins.

MCTM Math Contest awards were presented to:

Sarah Billmayer: Honorable Mention 16-35%.

Cody Welsh: Problem Solving and Intermediate.

Melanie Watkins Problem Solving.

Eddie Harmon: Superior top 15% and most improved.

Rylee Conlan: Honorable Mention in problem solving.

Raegan Conlan: Honorable Mention and applied Math and Intermediate.

Rennay Watkiins: Honorable Mention and fine Art and Senior Testing.

Rennay Watkins and Ella Billmayer: Math Students of the Year.

Mrs. Elissa Zellmer presented the Junior High Math Awards. The students who attended and placed at the Math contest were as follows:

Shyan Krass: Three Honorable Mentions

Brandy Calvert: 1 Honorable Mention and 1 Superior

Brooke Reed: 2 Honorable Mentions

Alaynee Hawley: 2 Superiors

Outstanding Math Student of the Year for Junior High was Brooke Reed.

Mr. Hutton presented the Science Awards. They are as follows:

Science Fair participants were Tracer Heilig, Kurt Calvert, Jack Harmon. All the students placed in Havre and then in Missoula they all received Silvers.

High School Science Student of the Year : Rylee Conlan.

Junior High Student of the Year Award: Shyan Krass.

Mrs. Kayla Fouts presented the Yearbook Award. The Triangle Telephone had a contest and the Computer Application Class entered and received second place. Jack Harmon and Sarah Billmayer were on hand to accept that recognition.

Business Student of the year was presented to Sarah Billmayer.

Yearbook Awards were presented. They were as follows:

1st Pins: Cody Welsh and Sarah Billmayer.

2nd Year Pins: Melanie Watkins, Raegan Conlan, and Rylee Conlan.

Third Year Pins were Eddie Harmon and Stacie Cornell.

Two Yearbook Editors were recognized: Rylee Conlan and Eddie Harmon.

Two Northwind Editors were presented pins: Melanie Watkins and Raegan Conlan.

Melanie Watkins, Pep Club Vice President, gave the farewell address. It was a lovely evening and such a thrill to have our youth be recognized for their outstanding accomplishments! Hats off to all our students!!
