3 Days In God's Country – CHS Class Of 1952 celebrates 65th reunion July 13th, 14th and 15th

July 12, 2017

When you ask the members of the Chinook High School Class of 1952 where the best place on earth is to grow up – the answer is a unanimous, Chinook, Montana. It is hard to believe that it has been 65 years since we crossed the stage in the high school auditorium proudly dressed in our caps and gowns and received our diplomas from Superintendent Walter Conway. His message to us was, "You have a long journey before you in this life. May it be a happy one." And for most of us our journey has been a happy one as we return 65 years later to celebrate our time here as kids to attend the fair and to visit with those of our classmates and friends who are here.

During our days the Blaine County Fair was the big celebration of the year other than school activities where everyone in the county got together for a good time so we chose to have our reunion during this year's fair and are looking forward to having good times similar to those we had as kids visiting the equipment and farm and ranch exhibits and taking in the sights, including visiting some of the local food booths. One of the booths in our day, maybe it was the VFW, had the best hamburgers and fried onions in the world! We were always excited to visit the exhibit of the projects displayed from the Chinook, Harlem and country schools to see if any of us had won a blue ribbon we could brag about. The fair included exciting carnival rides like the "Tilt-a-Whirl" and "Ferris wheel" and featured a rodeo and night show.

Our headquarters location for the duration of our reunion has been graciously provided by the Chinook Motor Inn. The Chinook Eagles Aerie 689 will host our grand banquet. The help from members of the Chinook Chamber of Commerce, Wildlife Museum, Town of Lloyd (David Milkovich), Chinook High School, Jim Halseth, Rads Deli & Pizza and Valerie Frank in planning the activities during our stay is very much appreciated.

During our stay we would like to see and visit with our Blaine County friends and invite them to join us at the Chinook Motor Inn during our daily breakfast and dinner get-togethers.

This, our 65th Reunion is a special event for us and we are looking forward to the warm and friendly hospitality of our "home town" and having a grand time.
