The regular meeting of the library board is Friday, July 28 at 9 A.M. in the meeting room.

Summer Reading ends this week. Children are asked to turn in their reading logs by August 4. Grand prize winners will be announced the second week of August. Thanks to all the children who participated, the parents who encouraged their children to read, and those who donated items for summer reading.

The Letter by Letter game for adults continues until the end of August. You may win a $50 gift card!

Notify the library if you have read four books in the month of July for the 2017 Reading Challenge. Your name will be entered to win a gift certificate from local business.

Heather Gudenkauf has written “Not a Sound.” Nurse Amelia Winn is left deaf after a tragic accident. Depression sets in causing her to lose her job, her husband, and her stepdaughter. A new Numa Files novel by Clive Cussler is “Nighthawk.” The X-37, the United States’ most sophisticated aircraft, is missing in the South Pacific. NUMA’s crew are called in to locate this fallen machine as Russia and China also race to find the plane. But only NUMA personnel know that on the plane is a deadly payload that must be found before it thaws and unleashes a deadly catastrophe.

“Beartown” is by Fredrik Backman, the author of “A Man Called Ove.” The people of Beartown fear their town is finished as the forest slowly encroaches upon them. Their hope and dreams rest on the junior ice hockey team who have a shot at winning the national semifinals. The players on the team face great opportunities if they win, but also a heavy responsibility to not let the town down. But when a violent act traumatizes a young girl the town is in turmoil as accusations leave no resident unaffected.

Other new titles include “Come Sundown” by Nora Roberts, “Magpie Murders” by Anthony Horowitz, and “If I’m Found,” Book 2 in the “If I Run Series” by Terri Blackstock.
