Criminals and opportunists thrive during natural disasters such as Hurricane Harvey.
Social media accounts and internet donation funds are ideal avenues for scammers to collect funds and information from people trying to donate to natural disaster victims.
Scammers also use phishing emails, which, when opened, could steal login information, or infect devices with malware and viruses.
Please research any organization that you wish to donate to. Do not open or reply to an email if you do not know the sender. Do not share or contribute to any donation requests unless you personally know and are familiar with the organization requesting the donation.
If you are unsure of the organization or individual, DO NOT reply, share, forward, respond, or donate in any way.
Be careful, be cautious, be aware!
