We are now able to turn on patron history in our catalog. If you are one of those patrons who wish we could tell you what you already read, this is a feature you will love. Any patron who wants this feature turned on, just needs to let us know and we will take care of it! Another service available at the library is Shoutbomb. Shoutbomb is a great service that patrons can sign up for and it will alert you via text message when you have an item about due or overdue. This service also enables you to renew items if there are no holds. If you are a patron who could benefit from this service, follow the link on our website and sign up! For all patrons who enjoy audio books or eBooks, we have MontanaLibrary2Go. This service allows patrons to download audio and eBooks to portable devices or home computers. Follow the link on our website to learn how to use this service. The best part is all of these services are paid for from our budget and they are free to our patrons! If you have any questions or need help with any of these services, just give us a call or stop in with your device and we will be glad to help you.

Fall programs have started again. Story Time is Tuesday mornings at 10:30 a.m. Story Time is geared toward preschool children and their parents or caregivers. Middle School Hangout is scheduled for Monday September 18th from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. Middle School Hangout is for students in grades 6 through 8. LEGO Club will be held monthly this year. The first program is scheduled for Thursday September 21st from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. and is open to kids in Kindergarten through grade 6.

Wednesday movies are showing again! A Dog’s Purpose will be the movie today at 1:00 p.m. in the library meeting room. Everyone is welcome to attend and refreshments will be served. The Choice will be showing September 20th and The Boy in the Striped Pajamas will be September 27th. We will be showing the movies with closed captioning whenever possible. Hopefully this will encourage those who may have difficulties hearing the movies to attend.

New movies this week include Disney’s Descendants 2 and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2. We have 2 non-fiction books ready this week. “Quakeland” by Kathryn Miles takes the reader on a journey around the United States in search of the truth about the threat of earthquakes and leads to spine-tingling discoveries, unnerving experts, and ultimately the kind of preparations that will actually help guide us through disasters. It’s a road trip full of surprises. “How to Lead When You’re Not in Charge” by Clay Scroggins will help you nurture your vision and cultivate influence, even when you lack authority in your organization. And he will free you to become the great leader you want to be so you can make a difference right where you are: Even when you’re not in charge. We have a number of thrillers ready for checkout this week. “The Doll Funeral” by Kate Hamer is an uplifting novel about the indissoluble bonds between mothers and daughters, and a reminder of how the imagination can set you free. “Sleeping in the Ground” by Peter Robinson is a gripping new novel starring Alan Banks —featuring an opening scene you’ll never forget, and a finale you won’t see coming. “Glass Houses” by Louise Penny is a Chief Inspector Gamache novel. “Endgame” by Bill Pronzini is a nameless detective novel. In “The Room of White Fire” by T. Jefferson Parker a young soldier is on the run from a mental institution. A P.I. carrying his own wounds is hired to track that soldier down. It’s a race against the clock to bring the soldier home before he reveals the secret that haunts him.

From “Life’s Little Instruction Book” #123: Learn to listen. Opportunity sometimes knocks very softly.

There is always something going on at the library. Check us out on Facebook or look us up on our website at http:www.blainecountylibrary.org for up to date information about what’s going on!
