45 vendors were on hand at the 5th Annual Chinook Rod & Gun Club show this past weekend filling 78 tables full of wares including specialty guns, ammo, knives, clothing, jewelry, coins, antiques, archery and so much more. The show was another great success for the club and have many vendors already scheduled to return next year.

The Chinook Rod and Gun Club held its fifth annual gun show this past weekend at the Blaine County Fairgrounds commercial building with vendors from all over the state of Montana and one very special vendor from Spokane, Washington attending the show.

The event was again a huge success the club uses funds from the event to help improve the gun range south of Chinook, Which in and just a few short years has become one of the nicest stops for gun enthusiast along the High-line to visit. The Range provides a safe and secure place for people to fire their weapons. The range includes rifle, pistol, shot gun and trap opportunities.

Stewart and Terry Riding of Spokane, Washington are returning vendors to the gun show and have made quit an impact in Blaine County by making donations to the Blaine County 4-H Foundation the past two years.

Terry has brought her one of a kind homemade Kahlua cakes to be sold during the show with all funds going to the Blaine County 4-H Foundation in addition Stewart has donated a rifle the past two years for the gun club to raffle off to benefit its cause.

This year the rifle Stewart donated is a Ruger 17HMR and funds used from the raffle will go towards the club's purchasing of tables so that in the future they don't have to search or stress about where to find enough tables to hold their show.

The gun show featured 78 tables sold 45 vendors selling wares ranging from antiques, collectible guns to specialty ammo, hats, jewelry, knives and just about anything.

Nationwide the trend among gun shows seems to see the numbers dwindling slightly and that was the case this weekend, however those clients visiting the gun show where buyers and they supported the process enthusiastically.

The Gun show is a unique opportunity for both the vendor and a customer alike in the sense that talking with the number of vendors they enjoy coming to the High-line and to Chinook in particular this time of year because of the sense of community and closeness and welcomeness they feel as vendors.

One vendor stated that coming to this gun show isn't about selling her product as much as it was about being with family and she considered Chinook and the community to be family.

As far as buyers go, the Gun Show provides a unique opportunity for customers to purchase guns and ammo and products that are not readily available along the High-line and gives him or her the opportunity to acquire these goods without having to travel far.

The Gun Club has worked in and unison with other local nonprofits including the Blaine County Valley covers 4-H club, "We have always tried to work hand in hand with other non-profits such as the Valley Clovers 4H club, which provided concessions throughout the show as well as the 4H Foundation which benefited from the sale of homemade Kahlua cakes donated by Terry Riding," stated Club President Keith Hanson.
